Do you want to relax and take a break from the busy daily life? Then you should take advantage of the variety of Korean saunas, also known as jimjilbang (찜질방), which translates to heated rooms, found all over Korea! Korean saunas are believed to have health benefits, such as relieving stress and improving circulation. They are perfect for people of all ages to hang out, unwind, and relax. I specifically went to Spa Land in Busan, the largest one in the city, known for its great experience and atmosphere. They offer a range of baths at various temperatures and different types of themed saunas like the Hard Wood Charcoal Room, Pyramid Room, and Ice Room. If you’re feeling a bit fancy, you can get a massage for an additional cost or use their massage chairs. Outside, you’ll find an area for footbaths. After all the sweat you let out, you can enjoy the popular Korean sauna-style eggs paired with Sikhye (식혜), a traditional rice beverage that is refreshing and slightly sweet. If you want to lie down or take a nap, you can go to the relaxation room, which has super comfortable reclinable chairs with built-in TVs. You can also check out their entertainment zones for playing games! This jimjilbang was very clean, and the instructions and descriptions of the different facilities were in English as well. I really enjoyed the experience and would love to visit again!!
I went at 7pm which was less busy! I recommend taking off your makeup because it may feel uncomfortable in the sauna rooms due to the heat. If you have long hair please don‘t forget to bring a hair tie and some bobby pins to feel more comfortable!
