28th Gwangju Royal Ceramics Festival! Went for a day trip with @funday.korea.networks to Gwangju @gjcitylove for the Royal Ceramics Festival. In short, it was an amazing experience! It was the first day of the festival, so everything was just starting, but despite that there were many opportunities to experience Korean culture and admire the various types of ceramics from typical plates, cups and vases to smaller trinkets with animal shapes. There were lectures by experienced potters where they introduced their work, which was very inspiring. Later on we also had the opportunity to try pottery ourselves and create a bowl, plate or a vase. The only downside was that we had to pay if we wanted them to burn it for us and deliver it. Otherwise, there were many booths, especially cultural ones like wearing Hanbok, trying out traditional Korean games or designing your own tote bag with textile markers! Another focused on mental health promotion and let you write yourself a self-encouraging massage on a small canvas, it came together with a stand by the way. Once done they also gave you some free cleaning supplies. Some booths also offered games for prizes and as one of the lucky winners I won a power bank ^^ In the evening an opening ceremony took place with the royal procession followed by many performances especially Korean traditional ones. At the end a trot singer was to perform, however due to some tour attendees feeling cold we had to leave sooner than planned and thus missed the performance. Still, it was a great day! #fundaykoreanetworks #fundayingwangju #gwangjuroyalceramicsfestival
