BUS
Such a good trip in Yeongju ! ð ð 1ST DAY : For the first day, we visited Buseoksa Temple, part of UNESCO World Heritage. We had a guide who explained some interesting part and let us take photos and enjoy it. It was the nice period as it was close to Buddha's birthday ~ we enjoyed the lanterns. ðŪ It was a really nice buddhist temple. Quiet with a beautiful view to recharge some energy. Apparently the best view for sunset ð in case you're there in the evening ! Built by Buddhist monk Uisang in 676, it has a beautiful but tragic history about a woman who adored Uisang (We got a coloring book about this story to commemorate). After this visit, we went to our "hotel" (a nature center). It was really great !! Nice rooms with a wonderful view on the lake ðïļ . We ate korean dinner and then enjoyed some games to get closer to each other, get to know everyone. It makes me really competitive as we could get some gifts ð (everyone got some in the end) ð 2ND DAY : Such a great day to start with such a beautiful view on the lake (will never forget it) ! We ate korean breakfast and had some free time ! We then had a ginseng workshop, trying it raw (a bit bitter), then honey, and with snacks. We also made Insam-ju (Ginseng liquor/wine ðŦ ). Such a great gift. We ate lunch before going to Sosuseowon Confucian Academy, another part of UNESCO World Heritage. This academy was originally founded under the name Baegundongseowon in 1542 by a Confucian scholar Ju Se-bung (we saw his drawing inside). It was really nice to learn more about the history and explore the different parts of the school (the teacher building, being bigger than the scholars, etc...). We also visited Seonbichon Village, known to be a K-drama location (The Princess' man, and more ...). We wandered in the streets and could enter some houses. Depending on the roof, we could know which one is more noble. After this, we visited the final place : Sunheung Mural Tomb. We entered the replica of the Tomb and could see the colored pictures inside. We got explanation for each part and it was really interesting to learn more, to understand how they thought it would protect the dead in the tomb. While each group visited the Tomb, we also had a workshop for 2 things : - a natural scrubber (because we need to care about the planet Earth) - a wind chime ð I could go on about how great the guides, organizers, and passionate local staffs on this trip were, so kind. It was a real pleasure to listen to them, chat, and laugh with them. This experience was possible thanks to the Korean Government and I'm so thankful for this opportunity ð Yeongju might not be on your list ... but truly, it should be â ! Add it now and enjoy the history, nature, and korean culture ! You will not regret ... ð
Do not miss the occasion to visit Yeongju, it is such a nice place (especially in spring, and apparently in autumn too !). Discover less known places in Korea to understand the history and culture !
