If you love strolling through the city center of Seoul, make sure to visit Changgyeonggung Palace (창경궁)! It is located right next to Changdeokgung Palace, and you can actually enter Changgyeonggung through Hamyangmun Gate inside Changdeokgung – meaning you get to explore two palaces in one visit! Of course, you can also enter through the main gate, Honghwamun Gate. Changgyeonggung Palace has a vast and beautiful area, including a garden shared with Changdeokgung Palace. Originally built in the 15th century by King Sejong for his father, King Taejong, the palace was later expanded to accommodate three dowager queens. Unlike the more famous Gyeongbokgung and Changdeokgung Palaces, Changgyeonggung is much less crowded, allowing you to enjoy its beauty in a peaceful atmosphere. There are plenty of picturesque spots for photos, and I highly recommend visiting in winter — especially when it snows! Seeing the palace covered in snow is truly an unforgettable experience. Just like the other four palaces in Seoul, Changgyeonggung offers a glimpse into royal life as it was hundreds of years ago. Don’t miss the chance to explore this hidden historical gem!
