About your trip

In October, I had the chance to visit Hongseong (홍성), a small town in South Korea that may seem unassuming at first glance. However, this place turned out to be full of hidden gems, offering unique experiences and delightful surprises! One of the highlights was the Shrimp Museum (빈집배류관) where you can explore the fascinating world of shrimp farming. A trip to one of the local shrimp caves gave me a glimpse into how these seafood delicacies are cultivated. 🧀 After the museum, I enjoyed a peaceful stroll by the sea. The observation deck (남당노을전망대) offers stunning views, especially during sunset. Watching the sky turn brilliant shades of orange and pink over the ocean was simply breathtaking. 🌄👌 For coffee lovers, Querencia Cafe (케렌시아) is the perfect spot to relax with a drink and take in the coastal scenery. 🍨🫶 Another must-see is Hongjuseong Fortress (홍주성), a historical site that comes alive during the Night Festival. The fortress hosts traditional and modern performances, Korean games, and a variety of activities for all ages. As night falls, beautiful light displays and laser shows on the media facade of the fortress create a magical atmosphere. 🌟💥 Hongseong may be small, but it’s full of heart and unforgettable experiences. Plan a visit and uncover its hidden wonders for yourself! 🗺🌍

TIP

✅ Visit the festivals in October to experience the best of local culture and food. ✅ Consider camping at Seulteo Auto Camping Site (세울터 오토캠핑장) if the weather is nice 🏨 ✅ Don’t leave without buying local gim (dried seaweed) and shrimp paste as souvenirs. They make for perfect gifts!
